I think what we wanted to do. Please correct me if I am wrong. But we figured we could do a comp on one of the days. But we would like crawlers on hand all weekend. During the racing event we would like the rock crawlers to demo there trucks. And to answer questions for the spectators and racers on hand. In other words we will be there to inform, educate, recruit, etc.

But yes we do plan to have a scored competition. With awards, and prizes for the crawlers who participate. All the details need to be worked out. Signups, date, times, etc.. But this is and was the plan.

PostSubject: Re: digger's dugeon   Wed 16 Jan 2008, 21:51

The fact that RCC was brought into th is thing is not what was bad. I agree, a larger club has more resources to put towards this thing. The only thing i see RCC offering to the event is more eyes for the sponsers. It does not sound like Jason really wants to be associated with this since he doesnt want to run a comp. Of course we cant really know what he wants unless we have talked to him.

If we are charged with running the crawling comp/demo what ever we're calling it at this point, i think better communication between EVERYONE is needed.

NoLimitRC, perhaps you could attend one of our meetings and we can spread things out on the table.

Our website has the ability to host a chat session, i would recomend that we do a town hall style discussion with HaPtoad, NoLimitRC, and Jason from RCC leading the discussion and answering questions.

Unless you want a big flop you better get everyone on the same page.

I am not real sure on the traffic flow of the site anymore, but has there been any hits regarding this event? how long as RCC been in charge of publicity and marketing?

For the record, what sponsers has RCC brought forward that werent already onboard? I'm not being sinical or confrontational, i just dont see many sponsers banners on RCC other than member/vendors who wouldnt have much to offer. I was under the impression that the major players were already on board previously to CRR or RCC being invovled.

I believe the benefit for CRR in the beggining was exposure for our website. Now i assume the traffic has been redirectedt o RCC. I see we get the headache of logistics of the whole thing and a small emblem on the banner. We get to be covered by a magazine we have already been on the cover of and have several guys in the features (not that we wont be more than happy to grace the pages of again =) )

It seems we also get the chance to compete against the top brass of RCC to possibly get in on the sweet prizes, but im not sure how thats going to be distrubuted since RCC doesnt want to run a comp, how do you get 1st place in a free crawl.

I dont see this as a bad thing, we get to crawl, see some cool monster trucks, get away for the weekend, spend time with friends. This event doesnt really hold much value to CRR in particular, and im not faulting you for that. But please dont make out like your the saving grace of our club. Your doing a great thing for the crawling community and i'm sure i speak for the entire club when i say that we are all more than ecstatic about sharing our hobby with as many people as possible.

I realize i can be "abrasive" as Brandon put it, i'm just calling like i see it. feel free to correct any view i may have miscontrued. I dont hold anything against anyone, especially for having an opinion different than mine.

PostSubject: Re: digger's dugeon   Wed 16 Jan 2008, 22:16

okay, ive read and re read this several times. I do want to thank No Limit for helping us spread the genre of RC Crawling and put us into the light with mainstream RC. With axial and HPI coming out with the AX-10 and the WHeelie king, and several re releases of the TLTs, the major manufacturers realize that the intrest is out there. The Digger's Dungeon event will help spark that intrest and more factory support is inevitable.

I'm not sure your "this is the thanks i get" attitude was very appropriate. No one said this was a bad thing for the club and it seems everyone had accepted the fact RCC was "taking over". From the way it looks thats nothing for us to worry about, since Jason has made absolutly no mention on RCC about the event or refering anyone to CRR.

judging from the reactions of the members here, it seems the "this is the thanks i get" attitude should have been ours but looks like we plan to roll with the punches and move forward with it anyway.

I still would like to see more participation in this discussion from Jason. What i gather from your post is that he is raising money to build the course.

I think how he plans on doing that, what he predicts to bring in, and what he has to offer is important information to know.

i dont want to start an argument and i dont harbor any ill feelings towards you or RCC and i hope the same is true on your side of the table, but we need clarification if we are to an exceptional job for you.

Reid, we are going to have to put a word limit on your posts. Or a disclaimer or something. I am going to bed, my head hurts.

Just to clarify.
Sound to me like No Limit would like two days of Demo and one day of crawling.

It also sounds like CRR is responsible for running the comp and scoring.

I believe also that Jason is just providing the RCC name to the comp for a larger attendence and additional sponsor. He is also going to do a live feed for the event on RCC.

Okay so here is my input.

If your going to run a big comp. You will need to limit the entriees if only running one day. Demo Friday and Sunday and comp Saturday. Most people will be traveling on Friday to get there and going home on Sunday.
Remember it took 2 days to do the Nats. At the PA states we ran thru 25 2.2's and 13 supers in one day. We ran 2 complete courses for both and finaled the top 3. It took about 7 hours running two course at a time. It took alot of work by all involved.

I think Friday as a scale trail fun and such would be great. 2.2 comp on Sat, and Super comp on Sunday. Spread things out and then you will have extra time to talk with people around and still have a good time.

Once again these are just my thoughts. I am planning to be there all three days if the good Lord allows!

Once again...Where do I sign up! lol!

This is exactly the plan i would like to carry out. If we do a comp one day, is your preference Saturday or Sunday? I would prefer saturday, but this is flexible.

Yes, the communication was poorly handled on my part. I was just psyched to get this much coverage and probably should have waited a day or so to post.

Here is how the crawling portion of the event has evolved from my point of view so everyone understands.
The decision was made to have a "rc rock crawling side show" as part of the world finals since August or so. Through a great recommendation from a mutual friend (Megabyte on HPISF) I eagerly invited CRR to do the rock crawling b/c you are the experts and I will not have the time.

After the announcement that there was going to be a true crawling club and a "Real" set up, I got a TON of interest. My guidance from Dennis is to make the event as big as possible, while maintaining an organized and professional event. I simply approached RCC to increase the visibility and name brand recognition. (Not to steamroll CRR).

Jason (RCC) will be at the event and i have suggested that both RCC and CRR are equally involved in the course design and construction. like BrandO said. the basics are there, just need to work on specifics.
I plan to post Randy and Brandon as POC's for this and list their email as the way to enter the crawling event.
I hope this clears things up. Lets put this "bobble" behind us and start aiming for a fantastic event cheers

I guess the first thing to do is figure out signups for the crawling comp? Who is going to handle this? I could start an event page with a Paypal button for signups. It may take a little figuring, Not a master web guy. But I think that shouldn't be a problem.

The rest of the details can be worked out as we go. But I do agree that entries should be limited. We want to make sure we have enough time to get everyone thru. What was everyone thinking on numbers of entries?

I think we can do 50 trucks in one day. So split it 15 Supers and 35 TwoPointTwos.

(did I mention I want one of each of those spots so 14/34 are left)

Where do I send my $.

I need to know: What classes will you run? Entry fee? how many entries will you accept? You can have entries email you to enter and pay cash at the event, OR give a paypal address and have pre paid entry fees to help with upfront costs (gas, etc.) CRR will be collecting entry fees, scoring the event etc. RCC will be there to help with course construction/layout and to provide coverage. Like i said before, profits from the crawling event roll back into CRR.

I was not planning on starting promotion until Feb 1st, but RCCA has already posted the flyer draft I sent them last week.

It is an open forum. Anyone should be able to sign up. In other words a new membership doesn't need to be approved by admin. Not really sure what the deal is.
