PostSubject: 2008 Club President   Mon 12 Nov 2007, 18:37

Hey all;

I want to be 2008 club president. But anyone who wants the job should have an equal chance to take on this position.

If anyone other then me wants to do the job, we will vote on it, on Nov 17th and 18th.

If no one, other then me steps up by Friday Nov 16, I will take the job and will count on the club backing me.

Please post here to voice any opinion or objection to this issue.

Thanks everyone.

I DON'T GET TO ALOT OF THE GET-TOGETHERS. WITH THAT SAID, I DON'T WANT TO STIR THE POT, OR FOR ANYONE TO TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS, I DON'T MEAN IT THAT WAY.
I MET RENE AT A MEET, I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH HIM, THAT SAID, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD PRESIDENT? IF I MISSED IT, LEAVE IT BE, BUT I WAS JUST CURIOUS. HOW OFTEN DOES THE CLUB CHANGE LEADERS?
IF THE NOV 11TH MEET WENT WELL THEN THERE IS YOUR ANSWER. LOOKING FORWARD TO CRAWLING MORE IN "08".
THANKS,
JASON SPARKS.

We do not talk about what happened to the old leader. (LOL)

Just kidding.

Brandon has a different job now that requires for him to travel weekends. He resigned his position and has given me his approval to head the club.

Brandon was the founder of the club and therefore first president. I think that at the end of every year the president can resign or people can ask to have the position put to a vote.

PS- your caps lock key appears stuck

I know I'm new here to the club and would like to thank everyone for being friendly at the comp. I have been able to experience comps in Colorado where things are run very well and went to Nats in Moab where you couldn't have asked for a better run event. (I didn't run, I just went as a fan)

With that said the 11th went very well! Thank you Rene!

I think Rene's experience at the Nats and other Regional events keeps his thump on the pulse of where this sport (hobby) is going!

At this point I haven't seen anyone else have any interest in this position so until I do and hear or see what that person can bring to the table it's an easy vote. Rene

Everyone needs to remember that without the support of everyone in the club the President is nothing more than a title. He cant do it all!

I would like to know what being a club member means?
Will we have to pay annual dues or just pay per Comp?
How often will there be Comps, GTG’s?

Mike

Rene? President? Whatever. lol! I don't see anything wrong with it. Unless someone else wants it who feels they can do better, I say put it to a vote( Which I know I saw Rene say it was coming, I just didn't see when).

Hey Timmy;

I want to have the vote this weekend, but we need to have someone run against me. Otherwise it makes no sense to to have a vote.

If anyone wants to run the club please let me know by Friday 5 PM so I can start a vote. I want this leadership thing decided by Sunday night so we can start planing next year.

Experience, Enthusiam, Well rounded knowledge of the rules. if only he wasnt a damned yankee. Rene sounds like the most logical person to lead. I havent seen Randy on here...course, i havent been on here much either, but i hope he's still around. I would like to continue having him as the Vice Pres if its okay with him.

Not to step on your toes Rene (cause its fine with me if you want to be president) But since Brandon resigned, i think the position defaults to Randy unless he doesnt want it.

I can see your eager to get '08 moving Lets let Randy make the calls as far as election goes, cause until we do have an election its his club, and lets not step on his toes.

We never really set up an heirarchy, or any form of club govt except that Brandon was to lead us.

This raises a question. How formal of a club do we want/need to be. Do we need to elect a full board, treasurer, secretary, pres and v. pres?

How long should terms last? one season or until retirement? If some one does resign before end of term, how does that effect election and the staff, do we hold an interim election to fill a single position, or does the incumbant staff get promoted and the least of the positions hold a new election.

Again, i dont want to make you mad Rene, i've already voiced my support for you if an election is to be held. i just want to make sure that everything is done fairly and with respect to all members and current leadership.

To Randy's question (why these dates), because next season needs to be planned ASAP. And if you want to be club president then voice that and develope a plan. Also, I asked you what your plans were for next year at the end of September and I still have no answer. So I have taken your lack of a respnse as a lack of interest or time.

(It would also have been a good idea to verbalize your interest in running the club to Brandon so that he could have given you all the CRR stuff)

At the begining of this thread I asked if anyone wants the job other then me. if someone else wants it, now is the time to speak up.

If I am president I need a sufficient amount of time to develop ideas and to make plans. This is why I would need to resolve this now.

If we do not run the club as well as Brandon did last year, it can not grow. And likely we will lose the ability to send people to Nationals if someone is not pushing.

The only way to resolve this is for the people that are interested in being club president to state that they want the job. And then we can vote on it.

Club President should be up for review at the end of every year.

The only names I see being kicked around is my name and Randy's.

If people feel Randy should be president because he was vice president last year they can simply vote that way.

If people vote for me I will do the best I can.

Randy, please put up a pole tonight for 2 days so we can move forward. I want to spend December building my new Crawlers, not wondering if there is going to be a club and if and where there will be events held.

Hey Tony;

No one is arguing, I just do not want our 2008 season to be the same way as our October event. At first everyone was excited, and then no one organized it, eventhough the club was ready to go tear it up.
