PostSubject: Which tires?   Mon 29 Oct 2007, 13:57

I was wondering what kind of tires everyone is going to be running for the Nov. 11th event. I am in the market for a different set and have read nothing but great comments on Losi Rock Claws but everyone and there brother is sold out of them so i was wondering if there was a good alternative to them. Do the masher 2ks perform as well? I am new to crawling and i have my stock axial rock lizards that everyone hates and am just going through the "what if" mindset of maybe i could make this line with this other tire so any help would be appreciated. Also i know certain tires work for certain parts of teh country so i figured i would get the local boys input on tire choices instead of what works so great in Arizona because i know in 1:1 thing certain tires work good over in the dry stuff but could never handle our mud we face out on the trails. thanks for the input.
Ben

Moabs are the TSLs of the RC world. They are a good fall back and work equally well on all terrain. the mashers are great on dry rock but lack the grip to hang on to some of the slippery stuff.

I have heard great stuff outta the RC4WD bogger look alikes. they come in all three sizes now. only problem is that RC4wd is the RC equivelant to USA6X6. Customer service is hit or miss and MOST of the time the product works with minimal modication. Every seems happy with the new run of tires tough. i think the bead issue was worked out early on.

i hadnt heard much on the moabs but i guess i should do some more research on them, i guess that is because everytime a tire other than the rock claw gets brought up it seems everyone just says buy rock claws so i am glad there are other options out there.

I like Claws, Moabs, M2ks in that order.

M2ks climb very well but do not side hill so hot, the Moabs side hill great but do not climb as well as the M2ks.

I think if you can find the Softer compound Moab, you will be at par with a claw.

If you want to save some cash, the lizards are not the best but they work ok. You just have to add some extra wheel weights compared to a Claw.

just an update for anyone who cares but i received my Moabs last night and they seem really tacky compared to the lizards. they are the M3 compound so i need to get out and break them in before sunday. also ordered some kreepy squishys to put in them so we will see how it performs this weekend.
