Did some more testing today, and found some problems.

I did get some Mountain Dew and plan on fixing it tonight. I only have tonight because I leave for Ohio in the morning and when I get back, Doug and I will be packing up and leaving for Alabama.

Basically the trucks CG is in the middle and not enough forward, it is low enough, but the truck just slaps the center plate and lifts the tires of the ground, rather then tip forward and pull. Reid's V-chassis idea triggerred a thought that might help. Thanks for your input Ried.

I will post progress later, unless I fall asleep in the garage, LOL.

The modification is done. I moved the two trannys closer together and put the long output shaft of the rear tranny back in but facing backward (you have to flip all internals to do this) and lenthened the rear 4 links, the to with maxx turnbucklers and the bottom with a longer set of of ALU bent links (45 degree bend drilled and tapped 3mm).

So the mass is moved forward and none of the mass was moved up.

I will have to wait till daylight to test it. Hopefully I can do a test run before I have to get my plane.

top pic is yesterdays config, below is this mornings

Version 2 of this chassis will hopefully designed and built for the next comp. Version one had significant fire damage. The body was also completely destroyed.

Here is a new layout I am messing with.

The TVP's are not tall enough because Lowes and Home depot only had 1/8"x2" flat stock. I will have to buy some 1/8"x 3" today.

The truck needs to ride a full inch lower and get one inch longer.

Yesterdays designed looked much better but would just not work the way I wanted.

Here is todays ugly rig. It runs and all I need is a better rear drive shaft and I will be ready for Sunday.

The tranny's have a better set of RC4wd gears now, they run much better.

So how does the front/rear dig work? Does it work the same as the clod? Or do you end up with torque twist when using dig. Just wondering if it transfers some of the torque into the shocks. I like the idea, and very interested to see it run.

hey there

The torque twist is exactly the same as in a regular shafty. I am not sure if this entire setup is worth the effort.

We will know more on Sunday.

The suspension travel is very limited right now, I will have to fix that for nationals.

The truck was good enough to win (Brian drove better then I did), I am very pleased. I was just a little too wimpy at my first try at gate 1 on the last course.

The side plates can be made more attractive, lighter and I am adding a crossbrace front and back. Also, the skid plate needs to made out of Delrin (Acetal) and the geometry can be slightly better. The skid plate will be same width but will have the sides machined thinner creating a center line feature 1" wide.

The side plates are ready for polishing and the Acetal (Delrin) has been orderred for the skid plate.

Today

I leave for Nationals next Monday and I am still waiting for a servo from Hitec, 2 Mambas and the punisher shafts from RC4wd.

Now I just need to build a fresh set of axles, make a cross brace for the top and paint two bodies and mount them. That should all be possible next Saturday. So I think I am in good shape to be prepared for Nationals.

I had a little setback, one of my OG Revolvers has died. I asked Holmes to send me the new Revolver Blacks to replace my OGs. Hopefully they behave the same.

The giant chunk of delrin is here (now I just need to slice it and machine a skidplate).

The Punisher shafts are here

I am now just waiting for the RC4wd TLT axle pinions, I already have the spools.

And then there is the small detail that I need to assemble and test everything before Sunday.
