lol...1.9 is 1.9 in my book. The terrain is why i gave up my twin force, got to be no fun. all 2.2 is fine with me....scale and comp classes. I think we would draw more people to the club with a scale class...look at scale4x4.net. Scale is what drew me into this hobby, kinda got veered off course with comps.

Hello all, sorry I havn't chimed in earily. Been on vacation since our last comp.

Randy and Scott worked me real hard for over a year to give Crawling a shot. I had no desire to even try, After nearly 30yrs of RCing I thought this would be way to slow and boring. Wow was I wrong! I absoluty love it.

I agree with Rene, If there is someway to have a comp or two or maybe some free crawls a little closer to civilaztion to draw a crowd or a so a newbee wouldn't have to travle so far to see whats going on. Otherwise, all we have is word of mouth or flyer at local hobby shops. Has anyone ever checked with local shops to see if they have a web site and would be willing to put a link to our site on it?

As far as plaques, I really like the sticker idea. I don't think theres nothing neater than to see an "Event Winner" sticker on the window of a drag car or across the back of a Legand car. Maybe a scale sized sticker for the truck and a larger version for your pit box. This is what we did with the slot car drag strip i owned, it's very cheap and all the guys loved it.

Classes, I love the 2.2 class, I'm selling my Super because I could build two 2.2 for what I have in it. I wouldn't mind seeing a scale class. But I would support the Super Class and whoever shows to run one. I do agree there should be a minimum of @ least 3 trucks to run any class.

We do need to stremline the process someway. I'll jump in a volunteer to help every weekend we run. Just let me know what you need me to do.

Thats my Fifty cents.....

Thanks for your ideas guys. I like the idea of the winner decals. We will look into that for next season. I don't think there is enough time to get it done for this year. But it is something we will work on for sure. I think it will be cheaper than the plaques. That should free up some other money for other expenses.

Keep the ideas coming!

well i know i deep saying it,but the cape fear river is a real nice spot. lots of people all the time out there. i went yesturday again after work and there were around 50-60 people playing, fishing, swimming, cooking out, camping, etc. they are always asking ?'s and watching me play. i always refer to our site as well as the others.have even let a couple 2or 3 try it too. every time i go down there people recognize me. and ask how it is going with the club and stuff.

also good words Wade.

and it is a short 5 minute walk if that to the river. or can drive all the way down there in 4x4.people even park in the river.better than Raven Rock i think.except for the water. but there is plenty of terrain without getting in it. some lines i run are about 1/2 tire deep anyway, but no all. Very Happy

Hey all

I went to a SERCRC comp yesterday.

It was lots of fun and I learned somethgings that are interesting.

1. The SERCRC uses one score sheet per driver which divides the score into sections between gates, therefore you know when you pointy out for a gate. (A rule that I was not aware of 'you can only get a max # of ten penalties points for reverses between a set of gates. After that your reverses are free (no points)). I will try to get a copy of these sheets.

2. All of their courses had 10 gates.

3. When they have enough people at a comp, the first two courses are a qualifier for the third course (top 10 trucks get to go into the final) and the two first courses decide the running order of the last course and all scores are dropped going into the last course. I think this makes it more interesting. So if you have the lowest score in the first two courses you enter the last course with the same score as evryone else (no score) but you get to go last.

There was no time limit put on these courses. But a 5 min time would be OK.

hey all;

The other thing that became obvious at the SERCRC comp was the whole location thing.

We used the rocks of a dam right nec=xt to the campground to crawl on. So repairs could be done, while still locking athe courses and you could leave your coolers and tools and chargers in tha car because parking was right there.

The guys at SERCRC say that about 60% or more of their comps allow you to park right next to where they crawl.

I have emailed the new score sheet in PDF format to Brandon, Randy, Lawrence and Doug.

There was another thing that SERCRC does differently that I really liked, 2.2 and supers ran their first coures, then they ran their second course and then the third.

Having the classes alternate give the people a chance to repair their truck before the next course goes. And it make the entire day more interesting even if you are only running one class.

I'm really liking some of the things the SERCRC guys are doing and theres no better way to succeed than immulate something thats already successful. How ever, i think location is something we just cant help at the moment. Miller park is about the only thing thats even close to having the tables within view of the courses and while i think it was a great place for a free cral, i dont think it was very good for a comp.

my two favorite places have been the haw river and the bull hole, neither are convenient to the parking lot.

Hey Big Red

You are right with what you say. Hopefully we can find some places that are larger and have parking near by.

ok again i suggest the cape fear river. you can drive all the way down to the river. alot of people do. and you will be real close to the stuff. if you have to walk, it is about 5 minutes of pretty easy trail.there is usually people down there camping, fishing, canoeing, swimming, etc. they are always interseted when i go down there.

and also Rene i like some of the ideas from their comps.
