Actually it was two wins. Rene was 1st in both 2.2 scale and 2.2 comp. Good job!

Hey there

Thanks to all.

I was very surprized to win the scale class, because they allow you to use the winch at anytime to do anything, without penalty. So if you are about to hit a gate, you just pull your truck sideways till it lines up.

I was my usual reserved self and told them that this rule is retarted. I was pretty sure that they would find a reason to keep me from winning, but it turns out my scaler just drove the course nice and the only gate I hit was because I slipped and did not want to fall on my ass.

The comp class was very competative, Holmes had a tuber, the ultra low buggy from last year was there too. JAI ran his Dad's crawler and a guy named Steven was there with an ultra capable buggy and he drove very very well. (As Brandon would say, I wast just lucky, LOL). There was also a stick 2.2 that did well.

I do not have pics sorry

Sounds like a very interesting comp. From a competitive point of view, the winch rules (or lack there of) would seem greatly retarded, but keep in mind, its a different mindset in the scale world. its not really about who has the most points. its just a reason to get together and show off their moddeling skills. Winning the points is just a plus.

I do think there needs to be some restrictions put on the winching. if it was anything like it was last year and you could just hold the cable anywhere. I think you ought to atleast have to search out an attachment point for a hook on your winch cable. have some sort of winching skill involved. or maybe have a rescue vehicle and cost points for him to come in or for rescue vehicle reverses during a rescue.

Team points would be cool. two trucks paired together running at the same time earning and losing dual points but able to use each other to keep from rolling over or to climb an obsticle or to push up a hill. Connecting a winch would be counted a touch. lol, just a thouht anyway.

Re Winching rule

I think that winching should be allowed without penalty if a scaler is upside down, just like you can reverse to try to right yourself.

If you use the winch while your tires are are down, there should be 1 point for every length of fairlead you use.

But since scale is not a competition oriented thing but a modeling class I guess it really does not matter.
